Leisa Gattie-Thurmer (Anishnabek), a third-generation Yukoner, is a garment designer
who studied at the Helen Lefaux School of Fashion Design in Vancouver. She has a variety of design
experience, including knitwear, theatre costuming, traditional First Nation clothing design and leather garment
construction.
Besides running her own business, Leisa teaches First Nations Art and Culture, Textiles, Design and Pattern Drafting and Garment Construction to high school students. She is a volunteer Fashion Design facilitator for Skills Canada and continues to be active in costuming for Whitehorse Theatre groups. |
